Nous sommes très heureux d’annoncer que le Chapitre Étudiant ECS Montréal a obtenu un des deux prix d’Excellence 2020 distribués parmi les 81 chapitres participants. Félicitations au président actuel, Jeremy Dawkins et son comité exécutif (F. Rynne, O. Hmam, L. Savignac, T. Hope, T. Liu, I. Asselah, D. Chhin, A. Hebert et S. Yassine). Nous tenons aussi à souligner la contribution des étudiants des éditions précédentes qui ont sans aucun doute une grande part du succès de ce chapitre. Par le passé, les présidents (S. Gateman, D. Polcari, P. Dauphin Ducharme et C. Kuss), les comités exécutifs et les bénévoles ont fait un travail remarquable lors des colloques et des ateliers dont le succès des 10 dernières années se mesure par une participation toujours grandissante. D’ailleurs (en 2019, plus de 120 personnes provenant des 5 universités de Montréal, d’Ottawa et même de l’Université Clarkson de l’état de New York se sont inscrites à la 9e édition du symposium.

3 minutes to change the world!

Congratulations to Jeremy Dawkins, PhD student in the group, who have won 1st place of the contest 3 minutes to change the world! The event on February 5th was presented by the Association québécoise de la production d’énergie renouvelable (AQPER) and Transition énergétique Québec (TEQ) He received a well-deserved scholarship of 1 500$, keep up your good work!

 2019 Nobel Prize in Chemistry

​The Schougaard group wants to offer his warm congratulations to John B. Goodenough, M. Stanley Whittingham, and Akira Yoshino were jointly awarded the 2019 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for the development of Lithium-ion batteries.
 
John B. Goodenough has made a significant work in the development of Li-ion cathode materials and has a strong influence on today's research. Steen had the opportunity to work as a postdoctoral fellow under his supervision at The University of Texas at Austin.

The Schougaard group attended the annual ECS Montreal student symposium, where Professor Joaquin Rodriguez Lopez and Professor Joshua Byers presented the great research from their groups. Danny and Laurence actively participated in the organization of the symposium, acting as treasurers.

5th Annual ECS Montreal Symposium

The Schougaard group organized and attended the 6th annual ECS Montreal student symposium.
 The attendees enjoyed 16 talks and 16 posters, including the two invited presentations of Prof. Jeff Dahn (Dalhousie University) and Prof. Dominic Rochefort (Université de Montréal). Danny and Antoine helped organize the symposium, acting as treasurer and social media officer, respectively.

4th Annual ECS Montreal Symposium

​As in the last years, group members, namely Ngoc Duc Trinh, Mathieu Saulnier, Christian Kuss, Danny Chhin and Mathieu Charbonneau, contributed to the organization of the 4th ECS Montreal Student Symposium. It was a great success with nearly 80 participants and invited talks by Prof. Alexis Vallée-Belisle (Université de Montréal) and Prof. Evgeny Katz (Clarkson University).

Steen in "International Innovation"

08/21/2013 
Today the lab received copies of the September edition of 'International Innovation' (www.researchmedia.eu) to find Steen on page 106. International Innovation reported on an interview with Steen concerning research on introducing conductive polymers into lithium batteries, performed in our group.

Advanced Photon Source Experiments

Christian, Duc, Stefan and Steen returned from the Advanced Photon Source at Argonne National Labs.
